Stephen and I were in Munich this same weekend last year, for one of the most gorgeous weekends of the whole spring. Swimming outside in April, yes please! We hadn't even realized why the city was so crowded last year, though: Frühlingsfest, which is just like Oktoberfest except less well known and in April. We put on our Dirdnls and Lederhosen and ate white asparagus and Käsespätzle in the Hippodrom tent and sang "Ein Prosit" approximately ninety times. I was feeling a little under the weather all weekend, sadly, so we took it really easy. We did make it to the Biergarten at Viktualienmarkt under the horse chestnut trees, however, which made me all kinds of happy. Frankfurt doesn't have a particularly excellent Biergarten culture and I miss that from studying in Freiburg a few years ago, so I'm always delighted to be in a place with good Biergärten.
